Sephora by OPI - 212-Sephora

Today I have some pictures of a nail polish called "212-Sephora" by Sephora by OPI.
According to Sephora, this polish was inspired by New York city after-dark. It was released in celebration of the Sephora 5 Times Square flagship store that was opened in 2009! Apparently this store is open until 12AM? That's pretty awesome. I don't get to New York very often so I have never been there but I hope to visit soon. The name of this polish is the area code of the store - 212.

This polish is brown with an interesting mix of colors. It has sparkles and flakies that turn from red to orange. It's a strange combination that makes for a very cool polish! It is possible to get away with two coats but I think three coats has the best opacity. The formula seemed a little watery to me.

I've heard that this polish was limited edition and wasn't going to be sold anymore but I purchased this last year (2012) and they had plenty in stock. It's also currently available on the Sephora website if anyone is interested. I think this polish is very unique but I'm not really "in love" with it (mainly because of the brown color). I'm still glad to have it though!

Color Club - Cosmic Fate

Today I have another holo polish! This is from the new Color Club Halo Hues collection for Spring 2013, which is a slightly more pigmented version of the 2012 Halo Hues. I originally only purchased two of these but I ended up going back on the site and purchasing the last four!! So I will post each polish in the collection and then do a "roundup" post with all of them. They're beautiful..

First up is Cosmic Fate! An orange-copper-nude colored holographic. Two coats of gorgeous!

I can't wait to stamp with these!

.. rest of the collection coming soon..

Sunday Stamping: Tape and Stamp

Today I have a Sunday stamping challenge post! This week's challenge is "tape and stamp". I am horrible at striping tape manicures so I wanted to go simple. I had a hard time coming up with an idea for this one that showed off the stamping AND the taping! This is what I came up with..

First I did a base color of China Glaze - I'm With the Lifeguard. The only time I've used this polish was on my toes so I figured I would use it on my hands for once! This neon shimmery green is gorgeous, and it applied nicely in two coats. It didn't even need a white base!

(Excuse my cuticles in this one :/ )

Next, I stamped a small black image on my nail from plate SH18.

And finally, I taped off the sides of the stamp and applied black polish! I think the neon green/black contrast looks really nice.

I was close to giving up on this challenge but I finally figured out something that worked and I'm pretty happy with how this came out.

Also, I start my classes again tomorrow so I hope I can keep up with posting. I plan on doing the new "lazy" 31 day challenge starting on February 1st so I think everything will be fine! This will be my first challenge and I could not be more excited!

Enchanted Polish - Across the Universe

Hey everyone!

Today I have an AWESOME nail polish to show you!!! I'm so excited for this one because I have been waiting quite a while to get it. I even battled a restock.. and won! Haha

This is Across the Universe by Enchanted Polish. It's a blue/purple duochrome (it sort of flashed red/orange on some angles) with a holo. WOW It's stunning. I layered one coat of this over black.

^ Look at this duochrome heaven!!!

(with flash -- it shows the holo!)

Beautiful. This is one from six polishes in the Imagine collection, inspired by the Beatles. They're $13.00 a bottle and worth every penny!!!

Zoya - Kimmy & Stamping

Today's post features a beautiful Zoya and some simple stamping. Zoya is one of my favorite brands and they are quickly become more popular. My favorite supply store just started selling them in mid 2012 and I couldn't be happier! Also, those Zoya fairies really care about their customers and always offer amazing deals/sales. I also love the brush size. It is perfect for my smaller nails!

This Zoya is called Kimmy from the Sunshine Collection in summer 2011. It's red/orange with gold shimmers. It's so amazing in the sun! This whole collection is gorgeous, actually! They all have this gorgeous shimmer.

two coats

Now I decided to add dark blue stripes. This is Essence Colour & Go - Just Rock It stamped using Shany plate 23.

Unfortunately the stamping covered up a lot of the beautiful Kimmy but it was fun looking.

Finger Paints - Twisted

Today I have more flakies! This flakie polish is called Twisted by Finger Paints from their Special Effects collection of 2012. All the way from January! I can't believe how fast time has gone.. I feel like I was just at Sally Beauty Supply buying the whole collection yesterday! I actually only purchased four of them that day because Twisted happened to be sold out. Thankfully a wonderful girl from the Facebook polish group helped me out and found one for me!

This collection features blue, green, gold, red, orange, and purple flakies in different combinations. Twisted has all of these colors! For this manicure I layered it over black and put a matte top coat! Matte flakies are amazing. (matte top coat - China Glaze Matte Magic)

The picture quality came out really weird, but you can still see the flakies glowing! Mattified flakes are gorgeous.

Sunday Stamping: With an Accent Nail

Today I have another Sunday Stamping challenge manicure! This week's challenge is "with an accent nail". I used a very special glitter for my accent nail. I wasn't sure if the accent HAD to have stamping so I have two versions. One without stamping on the glitter and one with stamping on the glitter.

For the base color I used Color Club - Catwalk Queen. It is a dark purple/plum color with shimmers. I used Color Club - Gingerbread Man as the stamping which is a gold foil that is scented like gingerbread!
This is Shany plate 25. I used the honeycomb looking stamp because I was trying to incorporate the glitter so that it would "flow" since the glitter is honeycomb shaped.
Now this glitter polish is very special to me because I won it in a giveaway last year, 2012, from Chalkboard Nails. It is called Honeycomb by Lacquistry and it is gold holographic glitters of different sizes in honeycomb looking shapes. These glitters dance in the sun. It's gorgeous in person! The pictures don't do it justice but trust me, this manicure is really cool.

(outside no flash)

(flash outside)

For these two I ended up adding some stamping to the accent nail, this is FAB UR NAILS Fun1 Plate - it's a sun.

Here are some bottle shots!

It's like a disco! WOO

Hope you like it as much as I do! Although.. I do wish that I had did a solid coat of Honeycomb for the accent nail instead of just putting one coat over the base color. Next time!

Deborah Lippmann - Mermaid's Dream / Urban Outfitters - Sea Dust

Hello everyone,

Today I have my favorite polish in my collection as of right now in this blog post. I have the original version AND the dupe. I needed a backup!

The pictures in this post are the dupe (they're SLIGHTLY different but close enough) but I will have a picture of the original at the end. (I wear the dupe more often than the original because Deborah Lippmann polishes are slightly expensive so I'm trying to save it! hehe)

So these first pictures are Urban Outfitters - Sea Dust:

And this is Deborah Lippmann Mermaid's Dream (accent nail of Deborah Lippmann On the Beach):

Now here are some comparison shots!!

Top finger has Urban Outfitters and the bottom is Deborah Lippmann (two coats each)

I would say that Mermaid's Dream is a bit more metallic looking than Sea Dust, and looks much bluer in bottle. It also has pretty golden speckles sprinkled within. I prefer the Deborah Lippmann but they're both so similar to me. LOVE

Enchanted Polish - Ocean Potion (And water marble fail..)

Today I have on an awesome indie by Enchanted Polish. It's called Ocean Potion ( I believe it is discontinued though ). I feel bad showing a discontinued polish but as you might have guessed from the title of this post, I had a manicure fail the other night. I had to put on one my "happy" polishes haha.

First I'll show the fail since it leads into the swatches! So I tried another water marble. I have been fairly successful in the past so I didn't expect to fail! It happens though. I actually did every single one of my nails with marbling and then hated it so much that I took it off immediately. I really loved the colors but they just looked too messy. The swatch and first nail I did came out good though so I wanted to show them! I think my problem is not being patient and taking my time. After the first three nails, I tend to start to go faster and that's when it gets ruined.

I'll probably try again soon!

Now here is Enchanted Polish - Ocean Potion!

(blurry but it shows the holo!)

This is just an ocean/aqua blue holographic nail polish. Two coats of perfection! Enchanted Polish.. I love it. I actually just bought another one the other night after fighting through a restock!! I can't wait to show it!!!

Sephora by OPI - I'm So Sari

Hello everyone,

So today I have a nail polish that I received from one of my good friends as a Christmas present. It is from the Indian Summer 2012 collection and gorgeous!!

This is a metallic-y teal with different colored sparkles. I want to say that they are holographic sparkles? It's just a beautiful sparkly blue polish.

Here is Sephora by OPI - I'm So Sari!

OPI - The Impossible (Liquid Sand)

I am absolutely eating my words after trying out The Impossible by OPI! It is one of the liquid sand polishes that came out with the Mariah Carey Winter 2013 collection. It's just a very grainy glitter textured nail polish. You could easily add a few coats of topcoat to make it shiny and glossy but honestly, I think it's awesome without!

When I purchased this polish my only intent was to add a top coat because "I knew I wasn't going to like the textured look". But wow.. I LOVE IT! It has a cool matte feel and even though there is no top coat, the glitter still sparkles in the light! I also found it to feel less sandpaper-y than it looks!

The Impossible is a darkened pink glitter with a jelly-like look when wet (or top coated). It also has star shaped glitters but they sunk to the bottom of my bottle and it was impossible to get a star without actually trying to fish them out. The stars were the main reason I bought this! The stars that I managed to get on some nails started to lift up.

Here is The Impossible by OPI:

(with flash)^^ This is also how it looks without the stars. Still very pretty!
This one has the stars that I fished out with the brush.^^

This bottle shot shows how the stars sank!^       In this shot, I tried to show the sparkles!^

OVERALL: At first, I wasn't impressed with the idea of a gritty glitter texture on my nail but after applying it, I ended up loving this polish! Pink is not a color I wear often on my nails but I really love this shade. Now I can't wait to get some of the Zoya Pixie Dusts! (Same texture idea, different name/colors)

Pretty & Polished Jawbreaker

Today's I have a random swatch of one of my very favorite indie polishes. I never thought I would be a fan of milky glitters but wow, after seeing and getting this one, I fell in love!!

This is Pretty&Polished - Jawbreaker

It truly looks like a jawbreaker.. the name is just perfect. This is two coats without any base color, just base coat.

Check Out Pretty&Polished Here!

* on a nonpolish related side note, I want to say Happy Birthday to Dave Grohl who will never see this but he is a huge idol of mine so HAPPY BIRTHDAY! haha

Sunday Stamping: Light Stamp Over Dark Base

Hello everyone!

Today I have a Sunday stamping challenge to show you. I couldn't do one last week because it was based off a "current book you are reading" and I'm not currently reading any books :o So I'm excited to participate this week!

The challenge is stamping a light color over a dark base. The base I used is by OPI called Live and Let Die from the James Bond collection. It is a gorgeous and unique dark green with a subtle yellow shimmer. It's really beautiful in the sun!! I am surprise at how much I like this shade, I am usually not a huge fan of this type of dark army greens.

Here is a picture before stamping:

You can sort of see the small yellowish shimmers!

Here it is with stamping! (I used BM 321 and Pure Chrome by Sally Hansen)

I'm not completely happy with how it came out but it still looks really nice in person!
